My artist is an obstractionist, MONDRIAN.

He perfered red, lead a modest life.

He owed a studio of the docoration of neoplastism.

Mondrian seldom made himself public.he used black lines and three primary colours to create a simple peaceful and harmonious art with a little mystery feeling.

I made this shophouse for mondrian base on these unique features.

I chose a mondrian's work then put it into my moodbox.
I use fishline and PVC to create this picture, the fishline is transparent and our sight can through the PVC, so the space looks more bigger.
And every plane of my moodbox is mondrian.

In the beginning, I figured I didn’t grasp teacher’s purpose of finding a famous architect. I just simply searched for some people of history and outstanding accomplishment, and then sent to teacher. but teacher didn’t agree on what I found, and let me do some research on Paul Gauguin. I found a lot of information on Paul Gauguin, an impressionist, applying himself to drawing and carving. I thought I didn’t comprehend him exactly, and only thought his works related to religion and he longed for original freedom. Because of my poor English, I had a lot of trouble in understanding him. So my speech board was based on materials from internet, lack of my own understanding. I chose Steve Leung.He won a lot of prizes including more than 40 internal prizes and Andrew Martin International, highest award in design circles. COOL Rigidity LEISURE CLEAN YI INEBRIATION WIDTH. And then, I started study his works knowing his work which showed seven moods cool rigidity leisure clean yi INEBRIATION and width.
And I also concluded that his works showed the characters of nobility and freedom and gave a feeling of home. I thought I comprehended this designer and translated all the materials about him in to English (OMG this is a crazy work) with my own understanding. I made four speech boards whose backgrounds were extracted from furniture series named Qingyi designed by him, along with furniture ornaments.( I spent my whole Christmas holiday doing this)

I showed teacher my moodbox. After consultation, teacher felt the two moodbox I made were both Mondrian’s sketch and had nothing to do with Steve. Although they were both minimalists, they have nothing to do with each other. so teacher suggested me switching to another designer, Mondrian

Glass refers to a hard, brittle, transparent amorphous solid. It is widely used because of inertness, insoluble in acid, soluble in alkali. Its transparent property makes it suitable for application as plate glass, which can increase light in the interior, making the room much brighter. Without visual obstacle, it increases the vision field making the room more spacious. The plate glass makes the building seem simple and splendid

Louvre Pyramid

The Louvre Pyramid is a large glass pyramid located in the courtyard of Louvre Museum and serves as the main entrance to the museum. Completed in 1989, and commissioned by French president, it was designed by the architect I.M.Pei, a Pritzker Prize-winning Chinese-born American architect, noted for the last master of high modernist architecture. He works on the abstract form through stone, concrete, glass, and steel.

The structure of the Louvre Pyramid was constructed entirely with glass segments with a height of 20.6 meters and a square base of 35 meters. The glass curtain wall has its unique features, as following:Structural system-- The structural system is composed of curved face steel and pipe lattice shell system and curved face cable nets system. The former withstand the exterior load action, and the latter hold the stability within plane.Special features of linkage-- between the steel pipe structural members, the universal hinged spherical insert-type joint is used Art feature--the combination of flexibility system, rigidity system and glass represent perfectly modern art of industry.Architectural effect--curtain wall produces the effect of transparent, brightness and legerity as well.The pyramid structure accentuates the relationship with the landscape, without a feeling of heaviness. Louvre Pyramid is the masterpiece of modern architecture, which solves the problem of the ancient palace converted into modern gallery, with the glass segments not only reflecting the changing sky of Paris but also permitting good light to underground lobby. It succeeded and became the landmark for the city of Paris!

The National Centre for the Performing Arts The National Centre for the Performing Arts also called as the Egg, is an opera house in Beijing, China. The center, a dome made by titanium and glass and surrounded by a man-made lake, holds 5.452 people. It is located to the west of Tiananmen Square and the Great Hall of the People, and near the Forbidden City. It was designed by French architect Paul Andreu graduated in 1961 from the école Polytechnique.
The exterior of the theater is a glass dome surrounded by a man-made lake and the titanium is broken by a glass curtain from top to bottom. It has the features as following:Structure features--the glass rib and glass board is joined by stainless claws. The top of glass rib uses hangs as connection, flex as connection at the bottom.Construction effect--stainless claws under light bring about special artistic effects and leave you fantasy

Paul Andreu brought modern architecture as opposed to the traditional Chinese architecture in Beijing. The big “Egg” like an animate seed, “what the theater wants to express is the inner vitality shrouded in the external peace. An “Egg” is pregnant with vitality that is my essence of design: shell, vitality, and openness.

Bank of China Tower, Hong Kong The bank of China Tower is a most recognized skyscraper in Central, Hong Kong, the headquarters for the Bank of China. It designed by I.M.Pei, the building is 305m high with its tow masts reaching 367.4m high. It is the third tallest skyscraper in Hong Kong and it was the first build outside the United States to break the 305m mark. The structure resembles growing bamboo shoots, symbolising livelihood and prosperity. The whole structure is supported by the five steel columns at the corners of the building, with the triangular frameworks transferring the weight of the structure onto these five columns. It is covered with glass curtain walls. While its distinctive look makes it one of Hong Kong's most identifiable landmarks today.

The BOC Tower is also a masterpiece of the world-renowned Chinese-American architect I.M. Pei. The Tower is symbolic of strength, vitality, growth and enterprise and a blend of modern architecture with traditional Chinese design. And it reflects the sun’s ray like a crystal. A geometrical work of art covered in a curtain wall of glass and aluminum, BOC Tower rises from its Central location with a view of the Victoria Harbour.

Taking off 1 of the 5 senses and enhancing any of the rest tomake up for it + perceive the space better.We thought of removing the sense of sight because we believed the best things in life are often unseen. Sometimes, sight can prove to be a hindrance in perceivingthe beauty of depth because our imaginations are often fettledby what we have seen.

Our concept was feeling through the sense of hearing.It's the same concept as looking at tactile materials.You can infer its texture by looking at it.In this case, we infer the texture by hearing the sound produced when it's being interacted with.

Developed from the idea of a 'Baby wheelchair' asa form of security for the user who hasn't gotten usedto moving around without the sense of sight.Thereafter, we made the tentacle-like structure in away such that it's foldable to enhance its mobility.

Adopted the principles of the gramophone and connectedthe ear-covers to the wheel area to enhance the hearing ofground texture.

The First Design Studio Lesson

Design Studio is my first lesson in SP.

This lesson is distinguished from previous ones. And it dose not need to refer to book or take a note. Whereas listen to teachers then absorb and do it on my own.

This continuous practise is more favorable than just learning pure theory. In addition, I was very carefully and quite when I drawing and making brick boy. I enjoyed the whole process.

The speed of teachers' lecture were so fast which I could not follow, for I came Singapore only two weeks ago. If teachers slow down the speed, I think I could do better.
